Dear Walloon Lake Enthusiast,
Let me introduce you to Build It Global Inc.
My dad, Joe Breidenstein, and I created the company in 2000 to do software-based construction and project management. Our first project was an energy efficient house (5-Star DOE rated), and then a Five Starts Plus model home built for a wind and solar community. It was a bit too early as renewable energy did not have the support it does today.
For those who love the history of Walloon Lake, I want to speak to you as many of the stories will be interesting for you in the website brochure. The inside cover page was written by dad who loved to write. The Petoskey News Review used him as a ghost writer from time to time. He worked a lot with the Lansing movers and shakers to spearhead Northern Michigan tourism. Some may also know his work with supporting the local Challenge Mountain handicap facility.
The second page is the last local press coverage written on the legendary Walt Master, Jr., who passed away in 1972 leaving the Master’s Boat House, and its legacy to my grandmother Mildred Breidenstein. You can see Walt Masters, Sr. and my grandmother “Dude” Breidenstein in the pictures along the bottom of the first two pages. If you don’t get a chance to read the brochure, take the time to read about Walt Master’s, Jr. and his contribution to “the foot” on Walloon Lake. It is a great story on Uncle Walt that I have grown to love and respect and am glad to share with you in the brochure his background information that will contribute to his legacy in some small way. For some of the families on Walloon Lake, they will know the stories about the foot and Uncle Walt.
Page 3 on the left side is the famous tradition and folklore regarding the North arm of Walloon Lake. I remember as a boy taking the boats up into the “gator den” where Uncle Walt would entertain friends and family, and the several Mexican immigrants who helped him carry on life in his wheelchair. The wonderful stories of the “Buckelrus at the Gator Park” were based upon paintings of Dean Whittaker in 1963 describing the gator den. We maintain one of the original pictures and Phil Whittaker, who’s ice cream shop is in the Village of Walloon Lake, holds the other one. He has it hanging on the wall for all those who want to revisit the history.
The fourth page is what I came up with dad back in 2003 as our software management and construction services. Presently I am no longer doing residential construction.
The fifth page is my brother’s company who some may know or have heard of on the lake. Great Lakes Gutters and Great Lakes Quality Roofing is my brother Joe Breidenstein, Jr. He is active on Walloon Lake and those who need roofs or gutters he is the person I would recommend…obviously!
The next page discusses a technology called GasTechno. I invented it with a team of brilliant PhD scientists and engineers. The patents were rated #1 highest score in Michigan (2012) on fifty criteria independently reported by Ocean Tomo in Chicago. The study was paid for by the State of Michigan and reported on by Crain’s Detroit. It is my main business now rather than construction services.
The last page will give you an explanation of the pictures in the brochure.
For those interested, a couple locals are planning to start the “Up North Angels” family office club in the local area. It will be focused on Michigan companies and investments from our area. It will be investment opportunities in a type of club format. I’ve only set up a basic website that you can register if you are interested. See the link below:
Upnorthangels.com is not fancy but allows you to register if interested.
If you care to reach out to me directly with any questions, please fill out the Contact form on the this website.
I’ve turned off the “builditglobal” website a couple years ago to shift my attention to GasTechno. However, I am considering starting a wooden boat repair and boat building business like Uncle Walt. Feel free to reach out to me if you have an old woody as I would love to visit and get some pictures if you’re willing.
Thank you for taking the time to read the brochure.
Oh! Lovely Walloona, Fairest of All we hope you enjoy all of northern Michigan!
Warmest regards,
Walter Breidenstein
